The Brazilian national holiday weekend (from November 12th to 15th) was so busy. ANDE (National Disabled Sports Association / Associação Nacional de Desportos para Deficientes), HOC, hosted Rachel Crac, the tournament’s Technical Delegate, for meetings and a thorough technical inspection of the Rio de Janeiro 2022 Boccia World Championships facilities.
I had a fantastic visit to Rio. The Arena Carioca (1 and 2) are a perfect venue for the world championships, they provide space and rooms to accommodate everything required for the event. The field of play will allow the public to watch the very best boccia players in the world compete,” said Rachel.

On Friday, the 11th, the efforts were of meetings between all the areas of the tournament. On Saturday, the 12th, there was a visit to the Olympic Park. After these two intense days of conversations, the expectation is the best possible. “The visit was very fruitful for the entire operation of the event, we were able to show that all the planning is very well underway. Although she (Rachel) already knew about the events we had already held previously, she was very impressed with our organization”, comments Erinaldo Chagas, vice president of ANDE and the General Manager of the World Cup.
The tournament will take place from December 5 to 13, at Arena Carioca 1, with free entrance. The last details of the most important competition of the cycle until Paris 2024 will receive 170 athletes from 40 countries
