Dibo
What an amazing popular choice! The name chosen for the mascot of the World Championships was the contraction of “Dirceu” and “Boccia”, a posthumous honor to one of the greatest icons of Brazilian Boccia, Dirceu Pinto. Dibo won with 49% of the votes. Dirceu, who passed away in 2020 at the age of 39 from heart issues, made history in Brazilian Paralympic sport, starting with the Beijing 2008 Games. After winning Gold in the Individuals Events, he got the Brazilian anthem played for the second time in the Pairs Events, along with his partner Eliseu Santos. That was the first time that Boccia was being broadcasted on TV in the country. Four years later, he won two more Golds in London 2012 and, at the Rio 2016 Games, a Silver medal along with the brothers Marcelo and Eliseu.

We love play Boccia!
We can’t deny that, can we? The blue, red and white colors of the balls are so present in our daily lives that they are like parts of our body, we know them so well!

Everything revolves around her, like the sun!
That little white ball governs what happens in an entire game. Our main objective is to “colar na branca” or glue on white ball. What a happiness it’s when that happens!

winning is just 1% of the achievement
There are only 3 podium places in a championship, right? But what unites us, without a doubt, is how much we dedicate ourselves to be there! We dedicate all our energies to training and on the court, always with the unique feeling that this is part of something much bigger than just a piece of metal around our neck.
